Spitex Zürich Limmat provides services to the city of Zurich for outpatient care and support for people in their own homes. One thousand workers in nine Spitex centres look after 6,500 people round the clock. Various additional departments are available, including palliative care, psychosocial care and support, the stoma and continence centre, wound prevention and advice, and the dementia advice service for social or chronic care.
Client autonomy has absolute priority at Spitex Zürich Limmat. Visiting people in their own homes as ‘guests’, the staff provide high-quality care and support services tailored to their specific needs. With maintaining and encouraging people’s independence as the ultimate goal, Spitex Zürich Limmat works on the principle of helping people to help themselves.
The work shadowing days allow an insight into working with people in need of help and care in the city of Zurich. The main focus is on domestic care, the duties of APNs (Advanced Practice Nurse) in psychosocial care and support, palliative care and chronic care, as well as working together with everyone involved.
